About

Medievalia is an academic multidisciplinary journal specialized in European Middle Ages. The journal takes contributions based on the philosophical, philological, artistic or cultural backgrounds in regard to ideas or texts brought from the medieval times. It receives also studies about concepts that have been fundamental in order to understand the richness and complexity of Middle Ages, even without having given birth to an explicit medieval testimony. The journal encourages also papers about the impact of Middle Age in later times, either in Europe, America or any other part of the world, as long as the paper shows an explicit link to Middle Ages.

The published material could be broken down into eigth groups: Arts, Science, Religion and Philosophy, History, Society and Historiography, Linguistics, Literature and History of Mentalities. However, through out its more than three decades of existence, the emphasis has been placed more on the literary, historical and philological approaches as well as on the approaches of textual criticism, according to the papers that are more often received.

Medievalia publishes original research written in any romance language and in English. There is not a limit on paper’s extension though is recommended that should not exceed 50 pages. The papers deemed to qualify for consideration of publication are submitted to a double peer-reviewed process, conducted by two experts on the field: one from Mexico and one from an international panel. Medievalia publishes equally notes, meaning a paper that even though its high quality does not comply with the reach and extensión of an article. The journal publishes also book reviews and news about national and international events related to Middle Ages. It has also a section that shows a list of the books received by our journal staff.

Papers must be submitted in any format compatible with .doc, .docx and .pdf readers. If the work contains also graphics or images they must be submitted in a separate file. The editorial guidelines are presented in the last page of every issue. At this time the journal appears with an annual frequency.
