Octaviano Valdés (1901-1991). El humanista sonriente

Abstract
Primero gallardo humanista, luego sabio coordinador y al final guía sonriente y silencioso. Así fue don Octaviano Valdés, quien vivió los nueve decenios que lleva el siglo, y acaba de fallecer el 29 cíe mayo de 1991.
Don Octaviano Valdés era, hacia 1930, un digno colega de los sabios humanistas Gabriel y Alfonso Méndez Plancarte, en cuya revista Ábside (nacida en 1936) dio tan disfrutables ensayos literarios y apologéticos. Muertos los Dióscuros michoacanos hace medio siglo, el doctor Valdés se convirtió en el imán de convergencia de nuestros humanistas, tanto literarios como jurídicos. Pero luego, don Octaviano vivió los últimos decenios de su vida como
la personificación de un ideal clásico: una sonrisa para todos y un rechazo para nadie.
