Abstract
This article deals with textual references in Aristophanes' Birds in order to evidence that the protagonist imposes his speech to birds and gods. Its lexical
units like "citizen" (ἀστός) and "foreigner" (ξένος) are supported on a historical and legal basis that sustains the cultural agreements that move and justify the Athenian expansionism faced to the so-called conquered "citizenships".
