Emilio Crespo Güemes, PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid, is emeritus professor of Greek Philology at the Autonomous University of Madrid and president of the Pastor Foundation for Classical Studies. He received an honorary doctorate from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and was a visiting professor at the University of Oxford and the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He served as vice-rector of the Autonomous University of Madrid and as head of its Department of Classical Philology. He led ten competitive research projects and was a researcher in nine others. He is author of more than twenty books, including Syntaxis del griego clásico (2003), associate editor of the Encyclopedia of Ancient Greek Language and Linguistics, and translator of Homer’s Iliad into Spanish.
