Abstract
Dentro de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) y como parte constitutiva de su Instituto de Investigaciones Filológicas, la entidad actualmente denominada Centro de Estudios Clásicos (CEC) tiene como más lejano antecedente y original etapa de su evolución al Centro de Traductores de Lenguas Clásicas (CT), dependencia que fue de la Coordinación de Humanidades y que, por acuerdo del entonces rector de la UNAM, ingeniero Javier Barros Sierra, fue establecida el 24 de octubre de 1966.
