Main Article Content
Abstract
The importance of these capitular constitutions rests on the fact that they record for the fi rst time the whereabouts of the boat load of Dominican friars who arrived to Chiapa along with bishop Las Casas in 1545. Themany particulars of internal Order's organization, and the variety of social activities in the New Spain of the time they reflect, are also worth mentioning. Palaeography and Spanish translation of the 16th century Latin text as well as a critical apparatus, are here provided.
