Novedad y tradición retórica

Abstract
Los más antiguos teóricos griegos y romanos de la retórica -nacida quizá, como señala Barthes (: 13) en el seno de los procesos relativos a la propiedad- la asumieron bien como un arte, bien como una técnica. Es decir: constituía un conjuntode reglas para que un emisor construyera discursos ya artificiosos, ya artísticos, en prosa, que respondieran a una finalidad práctica suasoria, y que pertenecieran a alguno de los tres primeros géneros: el forense, el político y el demostrativo -o epidíctico o de circunstancias-, que generalmente era encomiástico, y cuya aparición señala -también en opinión de Barthes (: 15-29)- el momenta del paso del verso a la prosa, con la pérdida del metro y la música.
