Abstract
El manuscrito 1631 de la Biblioteca Nacional de México es, basta ahora, la fuente más rica y copiosa de textos que documentan la historia del neolatín novohispano de fines del siglo XVI y los primeros años del XII. El códice es, ciertamente, de procedencia jesuitica, aunque no hay datos ciertos de como llego a la Biblioteca Nacional. Es probable que inicialmente haya pertenecido a labiblioteca del Colegio de San Pedro y San Pablo de la ciudad de México y que en 1767, año en que fue expulsada la Compañía, el manuscrito haya pasado, como los otros libros de dicho colegio, a la biblioteca de la Real y Pontificia Universidad.
