Abstract
The three great poets of the Augustan age all wrote on the subject of time; Virgil's Fourth Eclogue and Horace's Secular Hymn celebrate the golden century, whose beginning was marked by the Secular Games of 17 b.C. Perhaps this interest could be related to the Julian reforms of the Roman calendar.
