Abstract
Philosophy is so related to poetry, that it is impossible to think that the first could exist without the second, not only because of the matter, that is common to both, but also because of the expressive poetical and rhetorical procedures. Since
language does not transmit philosophical knowledge appropriately, figured language is used in a natural way to communicate it more lively and more suggestively. This phenomenon is shown especially by Greek philosophy, as the analysis of Antiphon's On the Truth proves. So it is necessary to consider the literary and rhetorical aspects in order to completely understand the philosophical texts.
