Robert J. Blake (Ph.D., University of Texas) is a professor of Spanish linguistics at the University of California, Davis and the founding director of the UC Language Consortium (http://uccllt.ucdavis.edu). He has published extensively on topics of Spanish linguistics (diachronics, syntax, and applied linguistics) and computer-assisted language learning (CALL). His Brave New Digital Classroom was published in 2008 by Georgetown University Press, with a second edition in 2013. He has developed an online course in basic Spanish and has helped to create a similar proposal for Arabic. In 2004 he became a member of the Real Academia Española de Norteamérica and thus an official member of the RAE.
