Resumen
The authors describe the physical habitat for the Huichol communities in Nayarit and Jalisco as a background for their study of the Huichol place names for the área of San Andrés Cohamiata, Santa Catarina Cuexcomatitlán, San Sebastián Teponahuaxtlán, and Tuxpan among others. Their inventory is classified according to the origins of the terms, whether geographical, cultural, political, spiritual or artistic. The authors note the cultural importance of various animals, plants and place, etc., that are found as their nuclei. They also list the principal locative affixes used in the formation of place names.
